A recent study from researchers at Sloan-Kettering Cancer center in New York confirms that women undergoing breast reconstruction using their own tissues felt better about themselves as early as three weeks after the surgery. Improvements in satisfaction, psychosocial well-being and sexual well-being were noted after the reconstructive surgery.
A previous study from Harvard University from 2010 including women with all types of breast reconstruction, including use of breast implants, reported those who used their own tissues were most satisfied despite the more lengthy surgery and recovery.
